Spice Up Your Jean Shorts for the Summer!

3 Different Ways to Spice Up Your Jean Shorts for the Summer!

DIY Tutorial

What you’ll need:

Old jeans or old jean shorts-I bought my jeans from Goodwill

Scissors*Bucket*Bleach*Gloves*Spray Bottle*Ruler*Leaves or something to create a pattern

I’m going to show you a few different ideas on how to make trendy jean shorts, without spending a lot of money :)

Start by cutting your jeans into shorts-I eyeballed where to cut mine but you can use another pair of your shorts as a template. Obviously if you already have shorts that you’re just revamping, you skip this part!

I soaked the first pair of shorts (which are high waisted) in a bucket of bleach with a dash of water, only filling up the bucket about ¼ of the way (I only wanted it to bleach to the crotch level.)  I put the ruler through the belt loops to hold it up.  I soaked it for about 2 hours and checked on it every 30 mins to see how the color was doing.  Don’t forget to use gloves when working with bleach! *Once you reach the look you want, throw the shorts in the wash to stop the bleach from working.

Outcome:

For the second pair I wanted to try a striped effect.  So I duct taped stripes and using a spray bottle filled with bleach only, I sprayed the shorts heavily.  I sprayed it a few times until I got the color I desired. *Once you reach the look you want, throw the shorts in the wash to stop the bleach from working.

Outcome:

And finally, for the third pair, I wanted to do something completely different. First, I stuffed some plastic bags in the legs so the bleach wouldn’t leak through to the back. Then, Inspired by the pattern some wet leaves left on the driveway, I grabbed some leaves, put them on the shorts, and sprayed bleach. *Once you reach the look you want, throw the shorts in the wash to stop the bleach from working.

Outcome:

Now I have 3 new trendy pairs of jean shorts!

Please photo reply! I’d love to see how yours turn out!
